A Gemstone Ring is more than a piece of jewelry — it is a daily companion, a visible statement, and a small work of art on the hand. In our Berlin workshop, rings are created from genuine natural stones, set in 925 silver or 14k gold-plated brass. Each stone is selected individually, each setting adjusted by hand — which is why no gemstone ring womenmodel is exactly like another.
NemoMatheo stands for a conscious counter-position to mass-produced goods. While industrial rings line up synthetic stones in standard sizes, we work with raw materials that have grown geologically over millions of years: tiger's eye with vibrant chatoyancy, moonstone with a blue shimmer, obsidian with deep black, and rose quartz with a soft pink tone. You will find this variety in our curated gemstone ring collection — from the delicate stacking ring to the large statement piece. Our standard: every ring should be wearable for years, get used to the hand of its wearer, and develop a patina over time that makes it personal.
If you are looking for a genuine gemstone ring you want substance instead of a glitter imitation. Exactly that is what we deliver: traceable materials, honest handcrafting, a Berlin studio with an address instead of an anonymous supply chain. This page guides you through our best-selling models, explains what distinguishes a natural stone ring, and gives you practical help with selection, stacking, and care. For deeper style knowledge, we recommend our parallel hub Gemstone Jewelry, where all categories converge.
The term gemstone ring is not protected in German usage — many online shops sell glass stones, dyed ceramic, or varnished resin under this name. A clear definition applies to us: A genuine natural stone ring bears a stone that has grown in the earth's crust, has been cut, and shows its natural color, grain, or inclusions. These small irregularities are not flaws, but proof of authenticity.
We work mainly with the quartz family (rose quartz, rock crystal, citrine, amethyst, tiger's eye), the feldspar family (moonstone, labradorite), volcanic rock (obsidian, lava stone) as well as organic materials like freshwater pearls and mother-of-pearl. Each material group has its own hardness (Mohs scale), refraction of light, and care requirement. A moonstone, for example, with a Mohs hardness of 6 is significantly more sensitive than a tiger's eye with a Mohs hardness of 7 and requires softer cleaning.
The setting also determines quality: At NemoMatheo, every stone is held in an open bezel or prong setting, which allows light to pass through the stone and makes the color appear vibrant. We avoid glued stones because glue yellows over time and the stone can become loose. If you want to delve even deeper into material science, you will find in the sister catalog Natural Stone Jewelry the same materials as necklaces, bracelets, and earrings — ideal for combining as a set. A note on tradition: In Europe, the term "healing stone" is frequently used in common parlance; this refers to the centuries-old symbolism of certain stones. We view our rings as aesthetic and cultural objects, not as medical products — those who value symbolism will find a rich tradition associated with each stone that makes wearing it more personal.
The most important question before buying is: What will the ring be worn for? A healing stone ring for everyday life has different requirements than a statement stone for special occasions. We roughly distinguish between three wear types.
Everyday & Office: Here, robustness and subtle elegance count. Tiger's eye, onyx, and small freshwater pearls are resilient, scratch-resistant, and match any outfit. Models like JZ06A Sunburst or JZ16 Pearl Lace remain undamaged even when typing on a laptop, washing hands, and grabbing objects — provided you take them off during sports and in the sauna.
Bridal & wedding: Freshwater pearls and moonstone are traditionally considered bridal symbols. A delicate pearl ring like JZ16 Pearl Lace harmonizes with any dress cut and remains timeless in photos even in 20 years. For the registry office or bridesmaid set, you can combine it with a simple star ring like JZ30 Stella Petite.
Statement & evening: If you want to start conversations, choose large cabochon stones like the JZ12 Opulenz Large Stone Ring or the black JZ32 Ring Obsidiana. These models sit prominently on the finger and work solo — they have the strongest effect without additional jewelry.
Tip: If you are still unsure which stone suits you, start with a classic ring with gemstone in tiger's eye or rose quartz — both are beginner-friendly, versatile, and withstand the everyday test. From over 40 JZ ring models, six classics have crystalized, which we briefly portray here. Each of these rings is available in the Berlin studio, is size-adjusted upon order, and comes in our gift packaging.
The Aurora Filo is our most delicate ring: a single, small moonstone cabochon on a paper-thin silver band. The blue shimmer (adularescence) stands out especially in daylight. Ideal as a first gemstone ring, as a gift, or for stacking over a classic wedding band.
The Sunburst Tiger's Eye combines an oval tiger's eye cabochon with fine rays all around — hence the name. The tiger's eye shimmers between honey and deep amber depending on the incidence of light. Robust enough for daily wear, large enough to stand out.
If you are looking for a ring that carries the outfit on its own, JZ12 Opulenz is the answer. A large, oval stone (optionally rose quartz, labradorite, or tiger's eye) in a massive setting — the classic cocktail ring format for dinner, gala, and all moments when less is simply not enough.
The Obsidiana relies on deep, glossy black. Obsidian is solidified volcanic lava and is traditionally considered a protective stone. The polished surface reflects like a dark mirror — a ring that fits especially well with monochrome outfits, black leather, and a minimalist style.
With Pearl Lace we bring the classic freshwater pearl into a modern, lace-like twisted setting. Three to five small pearls sit offset on a fine silver band — romantic, bridal-friendly, and at the same time suitable for everyday use. Pearls need special care (see below).
The Luna Bloom arranges six small moonstone cabochons in a flower shape around a central stone. The effect: a playful, feminine-romantic ring that simultaneously brings out the full light refraction of the moonstone. Perfect for birthday and engagement gifts.
Further models like JZ13 Layer Dreams, JZ15 Ocean Twist, JZ17 Sunflower or JZ30 Stella Petite Star Ring can be found completely listed in the gemstone ring overview. If you are simultaneously looking for matching earrings, check out our new collection Gemstone Earrings — many JZ rings have a color-coordinated counterpart there.
Ring stacking is the art of combining multiple rings on one hand without looking overloaded. Three basic rules help: First, choose a dominant statement piece (for example JZ12 Opulenz) and supplement it with two to three more delicate rings like JZ04B Aurora Filo or JZ30 Stella Petite. Second, keep a material family consistent — only silver or only gold, otherwise the stack looks restless. Third, distribute the stone sizes: the largest stone in the middle (middle or ring finger), smaller pieces on the outside. Stacking also works finger-wise, about three delicate rings on a single finger — ideal for minimalist outfits where the hand is supposed to tell a subtle story. For a coordinated overall picture, you combine the stack with two filigree necklaces of different lengths or a bangle from the same stone family. This creates a common thread in the look that appears professional without looking calculated. If you are completely new to the topic of stacking, it is best to start with two rings on adjacent fingers and work your way up to the third and fourth tier over weeks — this is how you calmly find out what really feels good on your hand.
Genuine natural stones are durable, but not indestructible. Three care rules noticeably extend the lifespan of your ring. First, take the ring off when washing hands, showering, and doing sports — soap residue dulls the polish, impact and sweat attack soft stones like moonstone, pearl, and opal. Second, clean the ring with a soft cloth (microfiber or cotton), never with ultrasound or aggressive jewelry cleaners — these can crack open natural stone inclusions. Third, store it separately in a fabric pouch or padded box so other jewelry does not scratch it. For pearl rings, the rule is: apply make-up, perfume, and hairspray first, then put on the ring — pearls are calcium carbonate-based and sensitive to acids. Silver rings can darken over time; this is normal and not a quality defect. With a special silver polishing cloth (without liquid cleaner) you can bring back the shine in just a few minutes — work carefully around the setting so the stone is not altered. If you are not wearing the ring seasonally, you should take it out briefly every few weeks, wipe it, and store it again. This keeps the surface even and the stone retains its vibrant shine for years.
Yes. We exclusively use genuine natural stones and real freshwater pearls. Glass, acrylic, or synthetic imitations are never used in our settings. The natural color variations, inclusions, and grain patterns are part of each stone's character.
Tiger's eye (JZ06A), onyx, and freshwater pearl models like JZ16 Pearl Lace are robust enough for daily wear. More delicate stones like moonstone or opal are better suited for special occasions.
Yes. Most of our silver rings can be adjusted by one to two sizes in our Berlin workshop. Write to us before ordering, and we will take your desired size directly into account.
Traditionally, pearl and moonstone are considered bridal stones. JZ16 Pearl Lace and JZ04B Aurora Filo are our classics for bridal outfits, registry offices, and bridesmaid sets.
A handmade gemstone ring is set individually, which means minimal differences in stone color and polish — and that is precisely what makes each piece unique. Mass-produced items, on the other hand, come from molds with identical synthetic stones. With us, you get the geological character of each individual stone.
