Gemstone Earrings — handmade by NemoMatheo Berlin

Gemstone Earrings are arguably the most personal piece of jewelry — they sit right on the face, catch the light, and are seen daily. Exactly for this reason, in our Berlin studio we craft every pair by hand: from genuine natural stones, in fine settings made of 18 karat gold-plated stainless steel, with the commitment that every piece can accompany you through years instead of seasons.

In this collection you will find over 30 different models — from puristic gemstone stud earrings to hip gemstone drop earrings to compact huggie hoop earrings with stone accents. We combine classic gemstones like citrine, moonstone, tiger's eye, freshwater pearl, and lapis lazuli with contemporary designs that work just as well for everyday life in Berlin as they do for a wedding day.

If you are looking for gemstone earrings, you are usually looking for one thing: a real stone that does not look like plastic, in a setting that does not tarnish after three months. That is precisely our promise. You can read more about our material and manufacturing philosophy in our main category Gemstone Jewelry.

Unlike mass-produced items from the fashion jewelry segment, our stones are individually selected, individually set, and individually polished. This means longer delivery times than with discount suppliers — and it means a piece of jewelry that feels like something someone made just for you. Because that is precisely what it is.

Studs, huggies, drops, or statement? — the 4 main categories

Before you fall in love with individual models, it helps to know the four major earring families. Each has its own character, its own occasion, and its own comfort level.

1. Gemstone stud earrings (studs). Small, lightweight, unobtrusive. Sit right on the earlobe and are the most discreet way to wear a stone. Perfect for the office, a second piercing, or as a first "real" piece of jewelry. Here we mainly use citrine, freshwater pearls, and small natural stone cabochons.

2. Huggie hoops with stone. The "hug" sits close to the ear, but its arc carries more volume than a stud. Huggies are our bestseller for layering — you can combine two or three in one ear without it looking overloaded.

3. Gemstone drop earrings (drops). Movement at the ear, length down to the jaw, often with pearls or teardrop stones. Drop earrings are our romantic line — they are elegant without being overbearing and go well with both a summer dress and a blazer.

4. Statement gemstone earrings. Asymmetrical, oversize, multicolored. Here we play with large citrine drops, boho tassels, and mixed-stone compositions. Statement pieces replace the necklace — you don't need anything else.

If you are still unsure about the shape, our detailed comparison guide in the magazine helps: Gemstone Earrings 2026 — handmade models in comparison. There we compare the wearing comfort, visibility, and suitability for occasions of the four categories point by point.

A rule of thumb from our studio practice: If you only want to own one pair, you are best off with a huggie hoop featuring a small stone — it bridges the gap between a stud (too plain for evening) and a drop earring (too much for the office). If you already own several pairs, you should consciously invest in the missing category instead of buying a third variant of the same style.

Gemstone earrings by occasion — bridal, everyday, statement

Another way to find the right pair is through the occasion. In our Berlin studio, we see three clearly distinct purchasing motives — and for each of them, there is a separate answer in this collection.

Bridal and wedding guest. Here, pearls, moonstone, and soft citrine are the classics. Filigree drop earrings or small teardrop studs are preferred to match the wedding gown without overpowering it. Models like Stella & Perla or Marea are a classic bridal choice. Wedding guests often reach for Gloria or Golden Shell — shimmering, but not too loud.

Everyday and office. Here, comfort counts. You want to put the earrings on in the morning and forget you are still wearing them by evening. Huggies with a small stone, simple natural stone studs, and medium-length drops work best here. Our Miele Huggie with honey crystal and pearl is made precisely for that — lightweight, secure, and combinable with any top.

Statement and evening. When the outfit is minimalist and the ears are supposed to take center stage, our boho and asymmetrical models come into play. Sahara Dreams with warm natural stones or Limonella with an asymmetrical citrine accent are the ideal choice for gallery openings, dinners, or the next Berlin summer wedding evening.

You can also apply the same occasion logic to our Natural Stone Jewelry category, where necklaces and bracelets of the same stone families can be found — perfect for matching sets.

Our best-selling gemstone earrings

Six models that our customers recommend particularly often — across all four categories. Each pair is handcrafted in Berlin and individually quality-checked.

EH02 Gloria — the timeless teardrop

Gloria is our best-selling drop earring for weddings and festive occasions. Classic teardrop shape, finely set stone, calm drape at the ear. Gloria is the pair you pass on to your daughter — simple enough to never go out of style. Detail page: EH02 Gloria gemstone drop earrings.

EH06 Marea — pearl meets wave

Marea is our answer to the desire for modern bridal earrings. A fluidly shaped wave made of 18K gold-plated stainless steel, at the end of which rests a freshwater pearl. Maritime, feminine, never cheesy. Especially popular for summer outdoor weddings. To the product: EH06 Marea pearl drop earrings.

EH09A Himmelskreis natural stone — boho studs

A round natural stone cabochon in a bright setting — Himmelskreis is our best-selling natural stone stud earrings. Discreet enough for the office, full of character enough for the weekend market. The stone grain is unique in every pair. View model: EH09A Himmelskreis natural stone stud earrings.

EH12 Sahara Dreams — natural stone boho statement

If you love warm earth tones, you cannot pass by Sahara Dreams. Multiple natural stones in a warm caramel spectrum, combined in a flowing boho shape. Sahara Dreams is our favorite piece for gallery openings and the festival outfit that is not supposed to look like a festival. Detail page: EH12 Sahara Dreams Natural Stone Boho Earrings.

EH22 Limonella Citrine Asymmetric

Limonella is asymmetric — a small citrine stud on the left, a longer-falling citrine drop on the right. Exactly this refraction makes the pair so exciting. Citrine provides a warm golden yellow that works in any light. A statement choice for anyone who has had enough of symmetrical boredom. View model: EH22 Limonella Citrine Earrings.

Miele Huggie — Honey Crystal and Pearl

Our bestseller in the huggie segment. A compact hoop with a small freshwater pearl hanging from its lower arch — set between honey crystal accents. Miele Huggie is the pair you put on in the morning and never take off in the evening. Ideal for multi-piercing setups. To the product: Miele Huggie Honey Crystal Earrings.

Layering Earrings — Style a Multi-Piercing Stack

Anyone with multiple piercings knows the dilemma: many pieces, little composition. Our three basic rules for a harmonious earring stack:

1. One anchor piece per ear. Choose one dominant pair (e.g., a dangler like Gloria or Marea) and complement it with smaller pieces. Three equally sized studs quickly look restless.

2. Keep the stone family consistent. Freshwater pearl plus moonstone plus citrine works (all light and warm). Tiger's eye plus lapis lazuli plus citrine quickly looks frayed.

3. Huggies are the layering heroes. They can easily be worn two or three at a time in the same ear without clasps getting in each other's way. Our Miele Huggie and the EH huggie series are explicitly made for this.

4. Mix or keep the metal tone consciously. For gemstone earrings, we recommend sticking to the 18k yellow gold tone because warm stones like citrine, tiger's eye, and honey crystal shine brightest in it. Only when you want to play very consciously with silver and gold is mixing worth it — otherwise, it looks more accidental than styled.

More inspiration and combinable pieces can also be found in the Gemstone Ring collection — rings and earrings from the same stone are our most frequent set recommendation.

Allergy-friendly — 18k Gold-Plated Stainless Steel

Perhaps the most important point for anyone who has ever gotten red, itchy earlobes from earrings: We manufacture exclusively on a basis of surgical stainless steel 316l, which is then coated with real 18 karat gold. This combination has two advantages.

First: low-nickel to nickel-free. Stainless steel 316l releases practically no nickel in skin contact — the main trigger for jewelry allergies. This makes our gemstone earrings suitable for the vast majority of people with sensitive skin (however, no manufacturer can guarantee individual tolerance).

Second: durable plating. 18k gold lasts significantly longer than thin platings on brass or zinc. With normal care and without direct contact with chlorine, perfume, or cleaning agents, our earrings retain their color for years.

If you want to be completely on the safe side: our pure natural stone studs with a short 316l pin are the skin-friendliest choice. Care instructions can be found on each product page.

Another point that is often overlooked: the closure system. Our studs work with classic butterfly closures made from the same 316l stainless steel — meaning no change in metal quality on the back of the ear. For huggies and hoops, an integrated hinged closure is used, which snaps in with a soft click and does not open on its own even during an active everyday life.

FAQ — Gemstone Earrings

Are your gemstone earrings real stones?
Yes. We exclusively use genuine natural stones — citrine, moonstone, tiger's eye, lapis lazuli, freshwater pearls, and others. Each stone has individual grain; no pair is exactly identical.

Which earring shape is best for beginners?
Huggie hoops or small studs. Both sit securely, are comfortable, and can be worn all day without any problems. Long danglers, on the other hand, are more occasion jewelry.

Are the earrings suitable for allergy sufferers?
The base consists of surgical stainless steel 316l with a genuine 18k gold overlay. This makes them well-tolerated by most people with nickel sensitivity. However, no manufacturer can give a 100% guarantee for every individual skin.

How do I properly care for gemstone earrings?
Remove before showering, swimming, sports, and before applying perfume or cream. Wipe with a soft, dry cloth after wearing and store in a jewelry box or fabric pouch.

Can I combine the earrings as a set with a necklace and ring?
Yes — many of our gemstone earrings have matching necklaces and rings in the same stone family. Check out our Natural Stone Jewelry Sodalite Gemstone Ring collections or get inspired by the main category Gemstone Jewelry .
